The Hotline

“The peer counselors at Teen Lifeline made me feel safe and secure, something that I hadn’t felt in years. After months had passed, and many phone calls to Teen Lifeline later, I was truly stable for the first time in ages. I was active and able to function like a normal teenager should, and looking back, I wouldn’t have done it any differently. Teen Lifeline saved me.”

-Quote from an actual caller

Growing up is complicated.  It’s difficult, it’s confusing and it’s sometimes hard for adults to understand.  Thousands upon thousands of teens are facing daily struggles from school, parents, relationships and peers.  They think no one cares; that no one understands.  They hurt inside.  They don’t feel comfortable talking to their parents, teachers or coaches about it.  They’ll keep it to themselves. Maybe they’ll act out, or even think about hurting themselves.  Worst of all, they might contemplate suicide.

Just to make the pain go away.

Peer-Couselor-on-PhoneThere is hope.  Research shows that most teens will turn to their peers before turning to an adult.

This is where Teen Lifeline comes in. We are not here to judge or to laugh, criticize or punish. We are just here to listen and to help find a solution to whatever is happening in life. At Teen Lifeline, teens can talk to someone their own age who understand what they are going through because they have gone through it too.  This is not an advice hotline. Teen Lifeline is a place where teens can help empower other teens to help themselves.

Annually, our Peer Counselors provide a “connection of hope” to more than 19,000 troubled youth. The hotline is supervised by a Master’s level Clinician and is available 24/7.  Peer Counseling, and our brand new text messaging service, is available daily from 3:00 to 9:00 pm with after-hours support provided by Crisis Response Network.  Teen Lifeline is accredited by the American Association of Suicidology which assures that our services meet the national best practice standards of care for providing services for persons in crisis.

No matter what the problem, if you need to talk, Teen Lifeline will be here to listen and to help. If you or someone you know needs help, we are just a phone call away.

You’re Not alone.
