If you enjoy teaching and empowering teens and using your voice and clinical expertise to raise awareness for youth-related issues, apply to join Teen Lifeline’s dedicated and caring team!

The Clinical Preventionist, Mental Health will represent Teen Lifeline in the Greater Tucson area and proactively connect with the community at large to raise awareness of suicide, protective factors, and other mental health-related issues.

This person must be able to take both an ethical and best practice approach in a crisis and can shift focus as the situation requires.  Independent and flexible, their day can start by leading a classroom discussion on suicide prevention and coping strategies and then immediately pivot to counseling and debriefing with youth and school personnel in a crisis situation.

Prevention education, outreach, and clinical services are the key areas of expertise for this position and a day in the life might consist of establishing relationships and conducting presentations with schools and other community agencies; directing and overseeing student lead initiatives and outreach events; and ensuring that they are kept well informed on current clinical best practice regulations.

As part of Teen Lifeline’s expansion in the Greater Tucson area, this position will not only engage with the community at large but more specifically the adolescent population. The Clinical Preventionist, Mental Health will supervise teen peer counselors and assist with training and implementation efforts for our hotline services in Tucson.  Showing empathy and being a compassionate listener all while using good judgment and effective boundaries is an important part of the position’s relationship with our teen peer counselors.

Teen Lifeline has been on the front lines of suicide prevention in Arizona for the past 39 years.  We work to provide essential support for teens throughout Arizona with our peer-to-peer crisis hotline; suicide prevention education and outreach in schools and the community; our Life Skills Development program for our teen volunteers; and our recently implemented Caring Contacts program that supports teens after an inpatient discharge.  Our vision is that all youth possess a sense of connectedness and hope for their future by working to prevent teen suicide in Arizona through enhancing resiliency in youth and fostering supportive communities.
